Reading out loud worksop

The workshop on Monday helped me out a lot. Since we were doing a new method of work shopping, this workshop was a little more useful. Reading my paper out loud helped me find small grammatical errors and also helped me make my sentences flow better. My partner was also finding out he had grammatical errors when he read his out loud. After the workshop I decided to change a few things. The biggest thing that I’ve decided to change is my conclusion. My partner said it was a little repetitive and I agree with him. Working with someone that had a similar topic was actually very helpful. Since our topics were similar we were able to share ideas on how to organize the essay and it was extremely helpful.  In my partners paper he presented a problem similar to mine. He then offered a proposal to fix the problem, which I found to be a very good addition to his paper. After reading his solution I actually plan on doing the same. After this workshop I have a lot more ideas on where to get sources. Since I’m writing about reddit there isn’t much information to go off of. After the workshop I realized that I can find other sources the correlate to my topic to help me prove my point. Now that I think about it our papers were very similar. My partner was arguing that a certain part of the Internet called the “deep web” should be more censored or not made available to the general public. My paper was about censorship and moderation on a website called reddit. Both of our topics are basically talking about censorship so it was very easy to read each others papers and get ideas from each other.

final project thoughts

After the workshop we did on Wednesday im feeling ok about how my draft is going. The summary of my thesis was accurate which lets me know im at least on the right track. The thesis was basically what was in my head. The only difference was the wording was a little bit different. My paper isnt very balanced between research and analysis at all. Since it’s the rough draft I haven’t added as much to research side as I should. Most of the paper is analysis so far but I do have some research added in. My classmate just recommended that I stay on the same track but just polish it more for the final paper (obviously). My next step from here is just to continue writing and do a little more research. Im still not sure I like where my paper is going but I guess ill have to see. My bibliography was lacking some information so my next step is to do more research because I don’t feel like I have enough material to write about. Another thing im slightly concerned about is that I don’t really like what im writing. Im only writing about this topic because I feel like there is more to write about it. I feel like I should write about what my actual opinion is because it would motivate me more to make my paper better. Maybe my next step is to try and find more information on my actual point of view so I can start over and write about something that is actually my point of view. Hopefully I am able to get everything figured out and I can turn in a quality paper that i am happy with.
